Dans un premier temps, scénographe diplômé de l’Ecole du Théâtre National de Strasbourg, il travaille pour des spectacles de théâtre, des expositions, des émissions de télévision (principalement pour ARTE) ou encore des événements. A partir de 1990, parallèlement à ses activités de scénographe, il développe une carrière individuelle d’artiste plasticien (Biennale de Paris, résidence à la fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain, nombreuses expositions en France et à l’étranger). En 2000, il crée avec Jean-Christophe Lanquetin le collectif ScU2 qui mène depuis le projet des Scénographies Urbaines en lien avec d’autres collectifs d’artistes dans le monde et réalise des rencontres d’artistes dans des quartiers de grandes villes (Douala, Alexandrie, Kinshasa, Johannesburg, Paris, Dakar, St Denis-La Réunion, Strasbourg, Conakry, Mayotte, Paris). En 1994 il intègre l’Ecole Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg (devenue la HEAR en 2010) pour y créer avec Jean-Christophe Lanquetin l’atelier de scénographie.  De 2004 à 2010 il participe activement à la création et la structuration du partenariat entre la HEAR et l’Académie des Beaux-Arts de Kinshasa (workshop, coordination, exposition…), et mène depuis 2010 avec Jean-Christophe Lanquetin le projet de recherche  Play>Urban. // Initially, as a scenograph graduated from the Strasbourg National Theater School, he worked on theater productions, exhibitions, television programs (primarily for ARTE), and events. Starting in 1990, alongside his work as a scenograph, he developed a solo career as a visual artist (Paris Biennale, residency at the Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art, numerous exhibitions in France and abroad). In 2000, he co-founded the ScU2 collective with Jean-Christophe Lanquetin, which has since led the Urban Scenography project in collaboration with other artist collectives worldwide and organized artist gatherings in neighborhoods of major cities (Douala, Alexandria, Kinshasa, Johannesburg, Paris, Dakar, Saint-Denis-La Réunion, Strasbourg, Conakry, Mayotte, Paris). In 1994, he joined the École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg (which became the HEAR in 2010) to establish the scenography department there with Jean-Christophe Lanquetin. From 2004 to 2010, he actively participated in the creation and structuring of the partnership between HEAR and the Academy of Fine Arts in Kinshasa (workshops, coordination, exhibitions, etc.), and since 2010 has led the research project Play>Urban with Jean-Christophe Lanquetin.

Depuis 2020 sa pratique d’artiste a pris le pas sur ses engagements pédagogiques et progressivement sur les processus collectifs qui ont eu pendant une vingtaine d’années une place centrale dans ses activités. Ses recherches récentes jouent avec des emballages cartons principalement rejetés par ses voisins dans les Bac Jaune de son immeuble. Partant de la triviale réalité de ce contexte il en détourne ces objets, non-objets selon François Dagognet, pour en extraire une intemporalité plastique les inscrivant dans le temps long de l’histoire de la figure. Ces travaux ont été récemment présentés à Strasbourg, Bâle et Paris // Since 2020, his artistic practice has taken precedence over her teaching commitments and, gradually, over the collaborative projects that had been central to her work for some twenty years. His recent researchs play with cardboard packaging—mostly rejected by his neighbors in the recycling bins (Bac Jaune) of his apartment building. Starting from the trivial reality of this context, he “hijacks” these objects—or “non-objects,” as François Dagognet calls them—to extract a plastic timelessness from them, placing them in the long history of the figure.
